Single Food Chart for all the Trimesters

Blissful pregnancy and an healthy diet are the two sides of the same coin. Only a healthy pregnancy  will finally reach upto the birth of a healthy baby.


So don't ignore your diet plan even if you are in your first trimester. You might feel next to impossible to swallow anything sometimes. But be calm all these are the part of your nine month journey. Keep having small meal at regular interval.

Now the question arises which food you need to avoid and which food will add into your healthy pregnancy. Have a look at the chart below recommended by my Gyno. Hope it will you.



Food groups Foods Allowed Foods Restricted
Cereals Wheat,Jowar,Rice,Ragi,Bajra and their products,Barley,Oats,Fresh Corn, Maize Maida and its products, Bakery items
Pulses All dals, Whole Pulses like Moong, Matki,Soyabean,Sprouts and their products. Toor to be mixed with Moong dal whenever take. Chana, Rajma, Chole,Cowpea,Toor dal
Milk and Milk Products Skimmed Cow's Milk, Curds, Buttermilk, Paneer-made of skimmed milk Buffalo's milk, Khoa, Cheese, Condensed milk, Cream and theri products
Vegetables All vegetables
Fruits All fresh fruits Papaya, Jack-fruit
Non-Veg Egg white, Chicken(without skin), Fish - Once a week Red meats like mutton,Organ meats like liver,kidney,brain,Egg yolk,Shell fish,Prawns,Lobsters,ham,Bacon,Sausages,Pork, Beef
Nuts and Oilseeds All nuts and oil seeds, Badam soaked overnight 5 to 6 daily.(After seven months) Walnuts and khajoor Groundnuts and cashewnuts - in minimum amounts
Oils Use mixtures of Oils:
Fish-eaters:-Sunflower/ Safflower
Non-Veg eaters:- olive + Soya + Corn + Groundnut
Vegetarians:- Corn/Rice bran Oil
Cononut Oil, Sunflower, Butter, Ghee, Vanaspati
Others Coconut water, barley water, Dry figs (Anjeer), black currants Fried foods and snacks like samosa n all. Preserved food,Bakery items,Cakes,Pastries,Cold drinks, alcohol etc
Salt To be eaten in very small amounts. No added top salt. All salt containing and preserved foods to be avoided. No readymade soups, curries or vegetables AJINOMOTO, Chinese and Outside Food

Take a note: Don't take any food in excess amount even if it's under allowed food and if you crave for any restricted food just take it in small amount.
